Scope: Racquets & Paddles bundles seven distinct racquet/paddle sports (tennis, badminton, squash, racquetball, pickleball, padel, table tennis); register splits by sport first, each sport gets its own facet set sized to what was actually sourced.

Seed:
1. The racquets equivalent of steel hardness/edge-retention is string-pattern density and string tension (and, for solid paddles, core/face material) — each trades spin or power against control the same way HRC trades edge retention against toughness.
2. A ship's cook sorting leftover gear would notice first that "racquet" silently covers seven incompatible tools (strung frames, solid perforated paddles, rubber-faced bats) before noticing brand or price — like sorting a knife rack by blade geometry before steel grade.

Branches:
tennis — "Popular lawn tennis rackets vary primarily in length, weight, balance point, stiffness, beam thickness, string pattern... and head size" (racket_wiki) routes to tennis_racquet_weight, tennis_head_size, tennis_string_pattern.
badminton — "Badminton rackets are light... weighing between about 70 and 95 grams" + string-tension paragraph (badminton_wiki) routes to badminton_racquet_weight, badminton_string_tension, badminton_head_shape.
squash — WSF's own dimension/weight maximums (wsf_racket_specs) route to squash_racquet_weight, squash_string_tension.
racquetball — "no limitations on the weight... may not exceed 22 inches" (racket_wiki) means no sourced per-model variation beyond the IRF cap, so it only gets the governing-rule judgement plus the shared frame_material/balance_point facets; no dedicated numeric facet invented.
pickleball — "combined length and width... shall not exceed 24 inches" + honeycomb-core/carbon-fiber sentence (pickleball_wiki) routes to pickleball_paddle_material.
padel — "perforated by cylindrical holes measuring between 9 and 13 millimetres" (padel_wiki) routes to padel_face_perforation.
table_tennis — "at least 85% of the blade by thickness shall be of natural wood" + rubber-type/Seemiller passage (tt_wiki, racket_wiki) routes to table_tennis_blade_wood_content, table_tennis_rubber_type.

Noise (spec-sheet rows seen, not turned into facets):
- Tennis grip size (L0-L5 / 4 1/8-4 5/8in) — standard spec-sheet row; no number sourced this run, dropped.
- Tennis string tension (recommended range) — originally dropped here as "no specific lbf number was found"; superseded, see Corrections below — a brand spec sheet did carry it and the facet was reinstated.
- Pickleball paddle weight (oz/g) — pickleball_wiki explicitly says weight is unregulated and gives no typical figure; dropped rather than invented.
- Padel racquet weight and head shape (round/diamond/teardrop) — well-known industry terms, but padel_wiki carries neither number nor shape taxonomy and brand pages (Head, Wilson, Decathlon) all blocked the fetch (429/404/403); dropped, flagged for a follow-up run with a reachable padel spec source.
- Racquetball racquet weight/length variation across models — only the 22in hard cap was sourced, no typical/min figure; handled as a judgement, not a numeric facet.
- Badminton grip size — minor, largely standardized across brands; not sourced, dropped.
- Table tennis handle shape (straight/flared/anatomic) — real blade spec-sheet row; not sourced this run, dropped.

Corrections (2026-10-26):
- Reinstated `tennis_string_tension` (46-57 lbf): the Noise line above claiming "no specific lbf number was found" was wrong — this run's own fetch of two Tennis Warehouse spec sheets (Babolat Pure Drive 2025, Pure Strike 97) shows exact lbf figures; facet added with both as evidence, parallel to badminton/squash tension facets.
- Added `tennis_swingweight` (317-325, unitless), `tennis_stiffness` (63-69 RA), `tennis_beam_width` (22-26mm), and `tennis_racquet_length` (27-27.5in), each sourced to 2+ Tennis Warehouse spec-sheet pages (Pure Drive 2025, Pure Drive Plus 2025, Pure Aero 98 2026, Pure Strike 97) fetched this pass — real spec-sheet rows and buyer's-guide concepts the original run left as unacknowledged Noise.
- Added `pickleball_core_thickness` (8-20mm) sourced to pickleballcentral.com's paddle buying guide; single-sourced (disclosed as a judgement, same as the padel/USA Pickleball/FIP single-source pattern already in this register) — deepens the pickleball facet set per the blind check's finding that it was thin relative to tennis/badminton.
- Changed `source` from `listing` to `researched` on `tennis_racquet_weight`, `badminton_racquet_weight`, `squash_racquet_weight`: each facet's own `backfill_note` already said the number comes from brand spec pages, not retail listings, so `listing` was the wrong label per house rule.
- Added a `play_priority` branch for the "control" value (`then_ask`: tennis_string_pattern, badminton_string_tension) — previously only "power" and "spin_or_touch" had branches, leaving a third of this facet's values with no then_ask.
- Merged `frame_material`'s `carbon_fiber` value into `graphite_composite` and reworded the vocabulary entry to say the two terms are used interchangeably for the same material, rather than leaving two values the facet's own vocabulary couldn't distinguish.
- Fixed `padel_face_perforation`'s `priority.cost_to_answer` from 5 (this register's max) to 1, matching its own backfill_note that the spec can be assumed regulation-compliant at near-zero cost.
- No findings rejected; all 9 required fixes applied as specified.
