# Dolls, Figures & Plush Toys (dolls)

Scope: supplies > play > toys > dolls — fashion dolls, baby/reborn dolls, ball-jointed dolls (BJD), action figures, collectible statue figures, and plush/stuffed toys sold as the figure itself (not dollhouses/playsets, a sibling leaf).

## Seed
1. Dolls equivalent of harvest date: silicone cure chemistry (platinum-cure vs tin-cure) and toy-safety certification — both change how a piece ages/how safe it is, both almost never a listing field, both need a brand/artist page to confirm.
2. A collector would notice joint type and paint/finish durability first (cut vs ball joint, heat-set vs air-dry paint) — what will loosen or rub off with handling, not what the photo shows.

## Branches
- product_type -> fashion_doll: drives doll_body_material/articulation_style/scale_ratio/hair_type/eye_type, per wikipedia_doll + wikipedia_action_figure's scale table naming Barbie at 1:6.
- product_type -> baby_or_reborn_doll: drives weighting_media/doll_size_or_age_stage/eye_type, per suebangroup_silicone_vinyl's size/weight bands.
- product_type -> ball_jointed_doll: drives articulation_style/scale_ratio/customization_level, per wikipedia_super_dollfie's resin/elastic/ball-joint description.
- product_type -> action_figure / collectible_statue_figure: drives scale_ratio/figure_material/licensed_property, per wikipedia_action_figure + waypoint_figure_materials.
- product_type -> plush_toy: drives plush_outer_fabric/plush_fill_material/plush_eye_attachment, per wikipedia_stuffed_toy.
- intended_user_age_grade -> infant_or_toddler_under_3: makes safety_certification and plush_eye_attachment load-bearing, per astm_f963_2011's small-parts/age-grading requirements.
- intended_user_age_grade -> adult_collector_display: makes safety_certification irrelevant, per suebangroup_materials' note that artist reborns are sold outside toy-testing scope.

## Noise
- Price, brand, and star rating: excluded per rule, never facets.
- "Country of manufacture" (common BJD/figure spec row): left out — not a judgment axis, no expert disagreement hinges on it.
- "Box/packaging condition" (collectible-figure listings often grade MIB/MISB): left out — a condition/grading concern for resale, not a product spec.
- Exact BJD fraction-size naming (1/3 SD, 1/4 MSD, 1/6 YOSD): attempted via bjd.fandom.com and bjdsaga.com, both blocked by Cloudflare challenge pages; used wikipedia_super_dollfie + wikipedia_action_figure's independently-confirmed ~55-60cm/1:3 scale instead and left the finer fraction vocabulary out rather than assert an unconfirmed number.
- Mattel/Hasbro/Volks brand spec pages: attempted (corporate.mattel.com Made-to-Move page, onemanshobby.com, encyclopaediia.blog, kotobukiya.co.jp, weijuntoy.com) — all returned 404 or a bot-challenge page; relied on Wikipedia primers, the ASTM/CPSC primary texts, and two specialist/trade guides (suebangroup, waypoint) instead.
- Points-of-articulation numeric ranges per scale (e.g. "20-32 points at 1:12"): seen only in WebSearch model-summary text, never in a fetched page, so left out per the no-search-snippet-citation rule; articulation_style facet uses qualitative joint-type categories instead, sourced to the Wikipedia page's own joint-type description.

## Corrections (2026-10-26)
1. Added `doll_body_material` to `makes_irrelevant` for `action_figure` and `collectible_statue_figure` branches, matching the symmetric-nulling pattern `plush_toy`/`ball_jointed_doll` already used.
2. Added facet `stand_or_base_included` (then_ask on `action_figure`/`collectible_statue_figure`, nulled elsewhere), evidenced by two goodsmile.info Nendoroid spec pages (ids 5000, 12000) both naming "stand included"/"does not balance on its own" — same brand domain, no independent second company found after Mattel/Kotobukiya/Hasbro/BigBadToyStore/MyFigureCollection all blocked or 404'd and the WebSearch budget was exhausted.
3. Added `articulation_style` to `baby_or_reborn_doll`'s `then_ask`, per suebang1.txt's Poseability comparison row already cited as `suebangroup_silicone_vinyl`.
4. Reworded `intended_user_age_grade`'s question/cold_start_question to "Baby/toddler, kid under 12, teen/adult player, or display collector?" so all four facet values map to a distinct phrase instead of collapsing two under "an older kid"; left branches for `child_3_to_12`/`teen_or_adult_play` unadded since no source distinguishes a deciding spec for either.
5. Added vocabulary entries for "Cut joint" and "T joint" (sourced to the already-cited `wikipedia_action_figure` page, re-grepped for the exact sentence) and "Polystone"/"Cold cast" (already-cited `waypoint_figure_materials`).
6. Softened `doll_body_material`, `hair_type`, and `plush_outer_fabric`'s `listing_field_hint`/`backfill_note` to distinguish niche/artist marketplaces (where the field is reliable) from mass-market retail (where it's usually absent).
7. Added facet `anatomical_detail_level` (then_ask on `baby_or_reborn_doll`/`ball_jointed_doll`, nulled elsewhere), using two already-cited sources: `suebangroup_silicone_vinyl` ("many listings default to non-anatomical") and `wikipedia_doll` ("most types of dolls are degenitalized") — no new source needed.
