## Scope
Craft Kits & Project Kits = bundled kits (material + pattern/mold + instructions) sold to complete one specific craft project; excludes loose/open-ended supplies that are their own sibling leaves (beads, fabrics, yarn, paint, clay, glue, cutting-tools, sewing-tools). Register splits by product type: needlework/fiber, numbered-canvas art (diamond painting/paint-by-number), build-and-assemble (model kits), and pour-and-cure (candle/soap/resin).

## Seed
1. Comb/brush's weave-equivalent here is pour_medium / coverage_type / assembly_method: the spec everyone advertises (piece count, price) matters less than the mechanism (lye vs melt-pour, full vs partial drill, snap-fit vs glue) that decides time, hazard, and finish.
2. A sommelier (origin/process/change-over-time thinker) would notice first that cure/cook time is the real differentiator sellers bury: cold-process soap (4-6wk) and cured candle wax (1-2wk) age into their final quality exactly like a wine needs time, while melt-and-pour and snap-fit kits have no "process" at all.

## Branches
- kit_type=needlework_textile -> then_ask needlework_technique/pattern_delivery/fabric_or_mesh_count/fiber_material: these kits share a hand-stitch/hook mechanism unrelated to drills, scale, or cure chemistry.
- kit_type=numbered_canvas_art -> then_ask canvas_medium/drill_shape/coverage_type/framed_or_unframed: diamond-resin vs paint mechanism, not stitch count or cure time.
- kit_type=model_build_assemble -> then_ask model_scale/model_material/build_skill_grade/assembly_method: physical assembly mechanism, not pour chemistry.
- kit_type=pour_and_cure -> then_ask pour_medium/cure_or_set_time/ventilation_or_handling_hazard: melt/mix/cure mechanism with real safety timelines.

## Noise
- DAC spec row "Special Drills (AB/Fairy Dust)" — decorative shimmer upgrade, not a differentiating buying facet; defined nowhere else needed.
- DAC spec row "exact diamond count" and "canvas cm dimensions" — too granular/continuous for a lean categorical facet list; coverage_type and framed_or_unframed capture the buying-relevant distinctions instead.
- Wickii comparison row "glycerin content (natural vs added)" and "texture/appearance (rustic vs translucent)" — cosmetic-chemistry/aesthetic outcomes, not input facets a listing states.
- Craft Resin spec "1:1 mix ratio by volume" — standard across most craft epoxies, not a buyer-facing differentiator.
- modelcars.com category "licensed franchise themes (e.g. Batman kits)" — marketing category, not an expertise facet.
- Model kit "estimated build hours" (DAC) — considered for a derived metric (diamonds/hour) but dropped; too spec-sheet-specific and not clearly an expert "divide these two numbers" habit vs. just a time estimate already printed.

## Corrections
- reference `kind` values (standard/specialist_reviewer/buyers_guide/brand_spec) were not schema enum members; remapped to standards_body/specialist_review/spec_sheet.
- derived_metrics entry used `why_it_matters` (not a schema field) and was missing required `depends_on`; fixed to `why` + `depends_on: ["pour_medium"]`.
- crossstitchboutique_aida fetch returned 0 bytes (never actually read); swapped for xstitchify_aida, which was fetched and confirmed to contain the 11/14/16/18-count claims before citing it.

## Corrections (2026-10-26)
- Added kit_type values pottery_or_ceramic_paint/jewelry_making with their own branches, new facets pottery_finish_method (momsfirststeps_kits, theclaybench_airdry) and jewelry_making_technique (wiki_beadwork, wiki_wirewrap, momsfirststeps_kits), and updated every other branch's makes_irrelevant to include both.
- Added completion_time facet (under_2_hours..30_plus_hours), evidenced by momsfirststeps_kits' "30 minutes-2 hours" / "3-10 hours" text and diamondartclub_drill's "Estimated Time: 30 to 110 hours" spec rows.
- Fixed derived_metrics.fragrance_oil_weight: formula referenced an undefined fragrance_load_pct variable; replaced with the literal 6-10% soy-wax range already cited (candlescience_soy, villagecraft_soy).
- Dropped latch_hook_4_mesh from fabric_or_mesh_count.values: latchhookcrafts_mesh only documents 3.75- and 5-mesh, and no second source for a 4-mesh product was found.
- Split build_skill_grade's level 4-5 piece-count claim: was "100-200" for both; autoworldstore_skill states level 5 "can have over 1,000 pieces," so level 4 and level 5 are now stated separately.
- Added a "Cold process soap" vocabulary entry, matching the existing "Melt and pour soap" entry.
- Reworded the kit_type question to name diamond painting explicitly ("diamond-paint or paint-by-number") instead of only "paint by number".
- Note: check.md's illustrative quotes for the pottery-painting ("six ceramic pieces...") and time-commitment ("stress relief"/"weekend-long") findings do not appear verbatim in the fetched momsfirststeps.com page; the underlying findings still held on text actually present on that page ("Clay and Pottery Craft Kits... you don't need a kiln"; "Simple kids' kits: 30 minutes-2 hours. Adult kits: 3-10 hours"), which is what the new facets cite instead.
